Our Sustainability
For generations, the dairy farmers have been protecting the beauty of our landscapes by adopting a circular economy in which the law of reuse and recovery applies. This daily commitment has allowed the area where Latteria Soligo was founded to be recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The adoption of new, plant-based packaging is yet another step in this direction – one more step towards environmental stewardship.
Latteria Soligo for all of us
Latteria Soligo is a wealth that belongs to the territory, to all of us.
The preciousness of milk as a living material found in the transformation process his exaltation.
Respect for the environment is embodied in the adherence to a circular development model, also in the industrial part of the dairy. Anything that still retains energy at the end of processing is converted into heat and electricity thanks to our regeneration plant. The remaining water is so pure that it is reintroduced into our father river, the Soligo. As nature demands.
Our hills
A World Heritage Site
The link between Latteria Soligo and its territory has always been strong and a fundamental factor in the history of our cooperative. It is no coincidence that our historical headquarters are located in one of the most enchanting areas of the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene land, at the foot of the Farra di Soligo hills.
Latteria Soligo is surrounded by landscapes adorned with vineyards, large meadows and wooded areas.
A natural environment that the history of agriculture in these territories has been able to safeguard and enhance and that today is handed over to the younger generations in all its beauty.
It is thanks to this spirit that today these same landscapes are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a recognition that has rewarded all those responsible actions kept alive over time that have distinguished us for generations.
Respect for our farmers
The Latteria Soligo (or Soligo Dairy Co-operative) fully represents this part of the world, since it is an archetype of sharing, co-operation, social engagement and entrepreneurship. We are committed to meeting the needs of our customers, working hard to stay in step with the latest changes – indeed, often helping to generate them. This was very much the case with the foundation of our dairy co-operative, when for the first time a number of producers came together to overhaul an approach to business which back then was still based on a way of working that did not leverage the power of capital.
To this end, the farmer-members put in place some simple, clear rules, taking to heart the cultural lessons of Professor Giuseppe Toniolo, who has since been beatified). His teachings informed the production process, which was based on collecting the milk from the producers themselves; transforming it into “perfect products”; making those products available to the mass market; helping farmers to continue enhancing their zootechnical understanding and their breeding techniques; and, last but not least, dividing the operating income amongst the farmer-members..
These rules were inscribed in the articles of association of the co-operative, setting out ideas that even now, 140 years on, remain highly relevant. Undoubtedly, the founding farmer-members were innovators – in fact, they can rightly be called revolutionaries – with respect to the social, economic and cultural context of the time.
